AL3xAND3R McQU33N FALL 2010

This collection I describe as 'BIZZARE & KINDA CREEPY' with complex prints on the suits and blazers,as this does not focus so much on the garment rather on the prints and the effect it gives, he prints remind me of rattle snake skin and the others featured on the other blazers look like Milk being mised in water or some black liquid. The trousers feature little detail such as the bottom being cut in a different style to the normal trouser with the semi circle like cut...ahh the head piece's and balaclava's scream 'SERIAL KILLER'...lool The Knitwear sweater with teh skull and crossbones is amazing!! love the addition of the hood and little mask reminds me of cyrax from Mortal Kombat 3...I think Mr. Mcquen used to play Mortal Kombat when he was little lool...

This collection is AMAZING!! love the wa he has modified Leather Jackets and his use of Knitwear for jumper, This collection focuses on odd shapes and detail especially with the Blazers which feature a reflective piece of thin plastic film on them, This features also High-top sneakers designed by himself, some of which looklike Air Yeezy..I like the fact that he raised the ankle of the sneakers almost making them resemble Moon Boots. This is a really DOPE collection..

IrinA SHaposniKAova

I dont usually blgo bout womenswear but but I had to DO THIS!! because this collection is crazy..Irina references cbism heavily in this collection and the angular shapes and pointy edges really give a smooth feel and look to her garments, with the use of smooth materials such as silk and rubber like materials to produce this collection..I realli love her CUBE like dress they look like hexogonal shapes, and the she MERKs with her Knitweat not only can she makes complex garments she can also Knit crazy...she use really thick rings locked together like chain links for her knitwear and the addition of the hood give a sort of dark feel love the piece with the ultramarine silk top..

Rick Owens RULES OF STYLE!!!!

Rick Owens known for his radical collection which mainly consits of Leather jackets and metal studs...These are his own rules of style...
1.
I'm not good at subtlety. If you're not going to be discreet and quiet, then just go all the way and have the balls to shave off your eyebrows, bleach your hair, and put on some big bracelets.
2.
Working out is modern couture. No outfit is going to make you look or feel as good as having a fit body. Buy less clothing and go to the gym instead.
3.
I've lived in Paris for six years, and I'm sorry to say that the Ugly American syndrome still exists. Sometimes you just want to say "Stop destroying the landscape with your outfit." Still, from a design standpoint, I'm tempted to redo the fanny pack. I look at it as a challenge—it's something to react against.
4.
When a suit gets middle-of-the-road it kind of loses me—it has to be sharp and classic and almost forties.
5.
Hair and shoes say it all. Everything in between is forgivable as long as you keep it simple. Trying to talk with your clothes is passive-aggressive.
6.
There's something a little too chatterboxy about color. Right now I want black, for its sharpness and punctuation.
7.
Jean-Michel Frank, the thirties interior and furniture designer, supposedly had 40 identical double-breasted gray flannel suits. He knew himself and is a wonderful example of restraint and extravagance.
8.
I hate rings and bracelets on men. I'm not a fan of man bags, or girl bags either—or even sunglasses. I don't like fussy accessories. Isn't it more chic to be free? Every jacket I make has interior pockets big enough to store a book and a sandwich and a passport.
9.
With layering, sometimes the more the better. When you layer a lot of black you're like a walking Louise Nevelson sculpture, and that's pretty attractive. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable is also one of the most attractive things you can do.
10.
It's funny—whenever someone talks about rules, I just want to break them. I recoil from the whole idea of rules.
Kris Van Assche's RULES OF STYLE!!!

This is and old article by Dior Homme's Creative Director, and it is something I feel every male should have posetd up on their wall....These are his rules of style..
1.
A lot of fashion houses design for the catwalk and not the street—then you see the clothes on a regular guy and it's a mess. Don't disguise your personality behind labels; impose it on the clothes.
2.
The most embarrassing thing a man can own is a disposable razor. They're for women. And speaking of grooming, there's nothing less flattering than shaved legs.
3.
Wearing a pair of high-tops with a suit deconstructs the look, and that's important. I like the way high-tops and pants act together. It's like the effect of rolled-up sleeves for your trousers. Just make sure the socks match your sneakers, not the pants. If you like black high-tops, wear black socks. White, white.
4.
I don't really think I know a man who wouldn't look good in black. Black is always good. It's the basic.
5.
You can wear a white shirt to work, to dinner, to visit the grandmother, to the opera, on vacation, at the beach. It's the true get-away-with-anything item.
6.
There's definitely an age limit for wearing leather pants, but not for wearing leather jackets. A standout fashion leather jacket can look great on a young guy. And there are a lot of suedes that men can get away with at any age.
7.
Don't just copy an outfit. Look in the mirror and do a reality check. It's all about making the good match. You'll know when something is right. And if you don't, just walk down the street: If people look away from you, then you know you've done something wrong.
8.
When I took over Dior Homme, I was warned. I knew it was going to be tough—but it was worse. In life you need good friends, and at work you need a good team. There's so much drama in life and work that you can easily get lost. You need to keep a little distance from everything.
9.
We've had beefy guys and we've had—well, skinny isn't really the right word, it's more like scary. Now men should be athletic, healthy. Today it's about having a balance in life—having nice clothes, good food, and respecting your body.
10.
My grandmother told me there are two ways of living: You can either survive or you can really make a life. There is eating and there is dining. She would always give that extra little effort, and I still believe that is important—to make things more beautiful makes all the difference.
